Review – Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Professor Layton and the Curious Village, a very odd title indeed. It pretty much sumsprofessor-layton-and-the-mysterious-village-20070223060649292 up the game itself, fun, challenging and a little quirky - we love it. Professor Layton is a typical top-hat wearing English bloke. He is joined by a young chap called Luke, where they enter a village in search of the Golden Apple.

Professor Layton starts with a beautifully animated cut-scene which would appeal more to kids than adults - however the game itself can be enjoyed by adults, especially after the puzzles start. The story takes an about turn and becomes rather dark, beginning with a murder. The puzzles themselves range from fairly easy to fairly challenging, although there are hints available and you're allowed to skip some puzzles. You will, however, find yourself going back to the puzzles you couldn't complete, which is easy thanks to the intuitive interface.

Professor Layton will test your puzzle-solving skills, take you on a journey of ups-and-downs and also provide you with hours of entertainment. It's well worth the price and you'd be sorry if you missed this Nintendo DS classic.
