New Nintendo DSi coming April

Nintendo has announced the release of the new Nintendo DSi, the successor to the Nintendo DS Lite. Sporting two larger, nintendo-dsibrighter screens, an SD card slot and two motion sensing cameras, the new console is even slimmer than the previous version of the console.

The new DSi will also have an built-in web browser, allowing users to download new games from the DSiWare service, a new offering from Nintendo which is similar to the WiiWare service for the Nintendo Wii, Nintendo's competition to the Sony Playstation and Microsoft Xbox 360. New games are in the pipeline to take advantage of the DSi's new features, including the two cameras. Older used Nintendo DS Lite games will also be compatible with the second-revision of the Nintendo DS, but fans of the older GameBoy Advance will no longer be able to play their games as the DSi no longer has the expansion slot.

Since the launch of the DS in 2005, NintendoâEUR(TM)s hand-held has become popular with hardcore and casual gamers of all ages, selling 96 million units worldwide by the end of 2008.
